If you are sure your network is ok and configured correctly, try resetting the RPS-ERP2 to factory defaults. Press and hold the 2 buttons on the front of the RPS-ERP-2 unit while you power on the device. Continue pressing the buttons for about 1 minute. You will hear a series of beeps. After a minute, release the buttons. Power the unit off, then back on. The RPS-ERP-2 unit will now be reset to factory default settings of IP 192.168.10.100 or 192.168.1.100. If this does not work, configure a network port on your desktop or laptop for an ip address of 192.168.10.90, netmask of 255.255.255.0 and gateway of 192.168.10.1. ( or 192.168.1.90 and gateway 192.168.1.1 alternative) Then connect a CROSS-OVER network cable (a special cable available at any computer store ) between this network port and the RPS-ERP2 unit. I am seeing a series of random characters in the Port Name Box in the power control menu. Sometimes my information appears saved, and sometimes it returns to these varied characters. How do I fix this ?

What you are seeing is a cache problem most likely caused by IE and the internal web server. First try using Firefox as a test and see if this clears up the problem. If not, delete the cache in IE under Tools>Internet Options>General>Browsing History>Delete and select Temporary Internet Files and Form Data. Once flushed, close and then open IE to see if the problem clears up. If not, you can try to reset the internal web server by reloading the firmware on the unit. To do this, press and hold the 2 buttons on the front of the RPS-ERP-2 unit while you power on the device. Continue pressing the buttons for about 1 minute. You will hear a series of beeps. After a minute, release the buttons. Power the unit off, then back on. The RPS-ERP-2 unit will now be reset to factory default settings and the internal web server will be flushed. Configure the unit wth your IE web browser. The random characters in the power control menu should not appear anymore.

I can’t connect to the default IP address configured at 192.168.10.100 or 192.168.1.100. Sometimes I can, but then the connection ‘goes away’. Help!

This happens when you do not have a ‘gateway address’ set in the remote power controllers network configuration screen *OR* the gateway address is incorrect. You need to set the Gateway address to that of your router on the same subnet as the RPS-ERP II. For instance, if you are using the factory default settings of 192.168.10.100, netmask of 255.255.255.0, the gateway would usually be set to 192.168.10.1. The IP Address of 192.168.10.1 would be the IP address of your router/switch.( It does not necessarily have to be 192.168.10.1, but should be the whatever IP address that you have configured for the router.)

What is the warranty period on the RPS-ERP II?

The remote power switch comes with a one year warranty against manufacturing defects. The warranty is not applicable if the device has been exposed to power surges, improper installation or mishandling.
